Boris Johnson has recently announced that the hospitality sector can reopen on 4th July, and that the 2m distancing rule in England will be relaxed, with some conditions. But this leaves many in the hospitality sector questioning how their bar, restaurant or hotel will open safely. Many need to open and welcome the potential relaxing of the social distancing rules. But even at 1m this still can provoke difficulties for employees often working behind small bars and kitchens. Mitigating the risk can be challenging but we have been working on some solutions for these challenges. Early on in the pandemic after being approached by the NHS, we switched our production team to focus on making visors, we have maintained production of these and developed a reusable version for retail staff, key workers and frontline services which we have in stock now.
At Luminati we have been producing many screens for the retail sector that opened up on 15th June, these has proven to be very successful and feedback from customers has been very positive. Therefore, we tasked our design team to produce a protective bar screen to support this sector in reopening in the coming weeks. The hospitality sector is looking to keep their staff and customers safe whilst abiding by the current government guidelines. Some pubs have even partially opened up already and are offering takeaway pints and pies!
Numerous larger pubs and restaurants have expressed that they will be launching apps for table service but some pubs and restaurants we have spoken to said that they simply can’t afford to invest in apps for ordering drinks like some of the larger pub chains – a measure to reduce the interactions between staff and customers. Therefore, affordable easy to fit screens are just one measure that will enable them to reopen safely. With this in mind our design team have been busy creating a range of options for the hospitality sector to enable them to open with confidence and we are always available to talk through your specifications on the phone or through email.
